On site, we were received by Emily Wang who hosted us together with Håkan Cervell, President of Ericsson Taiwan Ltd. In addition, we had the fortune of hearing speaks from Dann Yao (CTO) and Kerem Celik (Head of operations in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau). The visit started with Mr. Cervell explaining the businesses and actions of Ericsson, both globally and in the local East Asian region. Ericsson has nowadays moved away from being solely a telecom company and selling mobile phones to consisting of four core areas; Networks, IT, Media and Industries. Mr. Cervell explained Ericsson’s attempts to create “the Networked Society” in which everyone, both consumers and industries, are connected in real time and enabled to share and find information in new ways.
On the 12th of December, a group of eight CITO members and one NCTU student (and former exchange student at Chalmers) visited Höganäs AB’s sales office in Taipei. We were welcomed by Ola Litström, Country Manager Taiwan and South East Asia & Application Development Manager Region Asia, who hosted the visit. After greetings and some informal talking, we were given a presentation about Höganäs’ history, their products and markets. Höganäs started with coal mining 1979 in the town of Höganäs in southern Sweden. The coal mining was soon supplemented with manufacturing salt glazed ceramics, before Höganäs turned into their present focus; powder metal (PM) production, a field where they today can claim to be the world’s leading manufacturer. Today Höganäs has 1800 employees, more than 1500 products and customers in 75 countries.
On the 1st of December 2016, seven CITO representatives went to Taipei to visit the company Outdoor Gear which has two stores in Taipei, Rockland and Whiterock, in which they sell outdoor equipment and clothes. The company caught the CITO-members’ attention since it started up as (and still is) the only distributor of its kind of Fjällräven goods in Taiwan. The visit took place nearby the Rockland store in a store dedicated to Fjällräven goods where the CITO representatives were hosted by Mr Hank Lin and his wife who run the company together.
December 2nd CITO made a (quite early) Lucia performance on NCTU. We started by performing on the administration meeting of NCTU. After that we held another performance in our office. We also served everyone who watched traditional Swedish Christmas sweets. We hope you all enjoyed the performance, even though the high pitched notes of “Tipp tapp” gave us a bit of trouble!
