On the 6th of January, the entire CITO travelled to Taipei to meet with the global Swedish ICT company Ericsson. On site, we were received by Emily Wang who hosted us together with Håkan Cervell, President of Ericsson Taiwan Ltd. In addition, we had the fortune of hearing speaks from Dann Yao (CTO) and Kerem Celik (Head of operations in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau). The visit started with Mr. Cervell explaining the businesses and actions of Ericsson, both globally and in the local East Asian region. Ericsson has nowadays moved away from being solely a telecom company and selling mobile phones to consisting of four core areas; Networks, IT, Media and Industries. Mr. Cervell explained Ericsson’s attempts to create “the Networked Society” in which everyone, both consumers and industries, are connected in real time and enabled to share and find information in new ways.
On the 12th of December, a group of eight CITO members and one NCTU student (and former exchange student at Chalmers) visited Höganäs AB’s sales office in Taipei. We were welcomed by Ola Litström, Country Manager Taiwan and South East Asia & Application Development Manager Region Asia, who hosted the visit. After greetings and some informal talking, we were given a presentation about Höganäs’ history, their products and markets. Höganäs started with coal mining 1979 in the town of Höganäs in southern Sweden. The coal mining was soon supplemented with manufacturing salt glazed ceramics, before Höganäs turned into their present focus; powder metal (PM) production, a field where they today can claim to be the world’s leading manufacturer. Today Höganäs has 1800 employees, more than 1500 products and customers in 75 countries.
On the 1st of December 2016, seven CITO representatives went to Taipei to visit the company Outdoor Gear which has two stores in Taipei, Rockland and Whiterock, in which they sell outdoor equipment and clothes. The company caught the CITO-members’ attention since it started up as (and still is) the only distributor of its kind of Fjällräven goods in Taiwan. The visit took place nearby the Rockland store in a store dedicated to Fjällräven goods where the CITO representatives were hosted by Mr Hank Lin and his wife who run the company together.

On Friday the 13th of May CITO representatives, Johan Rebner and Malin Ansgar, visited Scania’s production facility in Taiwan which is located in Taoyuan. Scania in Taiwan is divided into two entities; the Scania Regional Product Center in Taoyuan and Scania Griffin Automotive in Taipei. During our visit we met with Jerry Yan, Workshop Manager, Gustaf Carlsson, Project manager in the Presales Department, and Lennart Wiksten, Manager of Scania Regional Product Center. Gustaf Carlsson is also former exchange student of National Tsinghua University, neighbouring university to National Chiao Tung University.

On the 11th of December 2015, seven of the CITO representatives, along with five National Chiao Tung University GMBA students, visited Ericsson in Taipei. We met primarily with Håkan Cervell, the President of Ericsson Taiwan, who has been working for Ericsson since 1990 and in Taiwan since August 2014.
