In Shibuya, Tokyo we had the opportunity to visit ABB K.K. Here CITO representatives Johannes Schygge and Alexander Fornell met with Tomoko Matayoshi, Head of Corporate Communications at ABB in Japan.
ABB operates mainly in robotics, power and automation technology areas. Today the company has been in Japan over 100 years, but can also be found in over 100 countries. This makes them one of the largest engineering companies as well as one of the largest conglomerates in the world. Matayoshi described the selling process of technology in Japan and the difficulties for non-Japanese companies. We also discussed the current focus in Japan on renewable energy after the Fukushima accident. Matayoshi described the benefits of working in Tokyo while explaining about the internships as well.
