Visit to SKF in Busan, South Korea

On the 15th of May, Patric Andersson and Markus Bruus visited SKF:s production plant in Busan. SKF is a global manufacturing company that mainly manufactures and sells bearings. They have 140 different units around the globe with approximately 46000 employees. The plant in Busan, with around 120 employees, is one out of three units in South Korea. The plant was originally located, built year 1995, in a different part of South Korea but was moved to Busan in 2007. The city government founded the relocation of the plant. SKF in Busan is not interested in having internships and they do not provide master theses. However, other locations around the globe do offer both internships and theses. For more information see SKF’s web page. The next day, they visited a sales office of Sandvik Hyperion in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. Sandvik is a high technology and global industrial Group offering products and services that enhance customer productivity, profitability and safety. The Group has about 50000 employees and 150 units around the world. In total there are 120 employees working for Sandvik Group in South Korea. The sales office in Gyeonggi-do is one out of a few different units in South Korea. Mr Se Hun Ju, the sales manager for hard materials talked a lot about the business climate in the country, and how important it is to educate the potential customers in a country where the people in general are very price sensitive. Sandvik Hyperion in Gyeonggi-do is not able to provide internships or master theses. However, other locations around the globe do offer both internships and theses.
