On 12th of december, the whole CITO office participated in SKF’s case study in Taipei. SKF was founded in 1907 and is one of Swedens biggest companies, with around 50,000 employees, and presence on 165 sites in 28 countries around the world. SKF is mostly known for their bearings, but has a wider range of products. The Taipei factory is specialized in linear motion, with the so called “rail guides”, which make sure that heavy components can easily move back and forth on its track.
The case study was divided into three parts; presentation of the company, tour in the factory, and lastly the case study. The first two parts were essential, since this was a real life case study. Not being too detailed, the task was to propose some ideas to make one department of this SKF factory more profitable. The participants were able to look for information in the factory and ask any questions the employees, which further made this case study more interesting.
All in all, this was a very rewarding and fun day for all the participants. Thanks SKF Taiwan Co. Ltd for having us!
