On Thursday 27th of March Adam Johansson and Martin Falk Danauskis visited Scania at their Tokyo office. The meeting was with Managing Director Johan Lundén and Marketing Manager Akiko Watanabe.
The Swedish truck and bus manufacturer Scania has been present in Japan for more than 10 years. Since four years back they are operating independently without cooperation with any Japanese company, which is uncommon for a foreign company in the Japanese market. Scania’s organization in Japan is growing steadily. At the moment there are a total of 26 employees within their three business units: sales, presales and service.
Johan and Akiko both mention the importance of the Japanese Language when it comes to working there. They see opportunities in the future for Internships and Master Theses at Scania Japan, although the most opportunities are in Sweden as of today.
